A mother whose daughter had recently experienced a mental health crisis consulted with NDCL months ago, and I requested that the consultant who documented her history reach out to me. The conversation began with the mother explaining the onset of her daughter’s condition, stating, severe headaches caused it. I interjected, suggesting that the headache was likely a symptom rather than the cause, pointing out potential contributing factors such as stress, weight issues, substance use, wrong emotions, western medications, contraceptives, etc.

The mother explained that her daughter’s problems began with depression, stemming from marital issues, leading to sleeplessness and headaches, for which they sought medical attention. The daughter was hospitalized, placed on sedatives, and initially showed improvement, but her condition worsened after discharge, manifesting in aggression, hallucinations, and erratic behavior. I inquired if the doctors had informed them about the effects of the sedatives on the brain, to which the mother replied negatively. I advised her to research the topic and later follow up on her findings.

After conducting research, the mother reported back that sedatives alter brain functions, prompting me to question the logic in using such substances to treat her daughter’s condition. I emphasized that the initial issues stemmed from untreated depression and stress, poor emotional management, suggesting that professional help from a psychologist would have been more appropriate than drugging. I criticized the reliance on Western medications for treating symptoms rather than addressing underlying issues, pointing out the potential for substances like sedatives to lead to serious cognitive and psychological problems. I lamented the trend of adopting Western approaches to health without critical consideration, leading to various health issues.
